He is a well-respected upstream oil and gas industry professional with many years of oil and gas experience. He has taught at PETEX since 1977 and co-authored one of our most popular publications, Fundamentals of Petroleum, 5th Edition.
Bobigian served 4 years of active duty, and 2 years of inactive duty in the US Army where he served as an infantry captain. Bobigian graduated from Colorado School of Mines as a Geological Engineer. Upon graduation, he joined Texaco in South Louisiana and took on the role of staff engineer.
Currently Bobigian is the President and Managing Member of companies, 1776 Energy and 1836 Resources, as well as an instructor for PETEX. Both 1776 Energy and 1836 Resources specialize in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry. These companies specialize in horizontal well drilling, specifically the Eagle Ford Shale, and strives to maximize production.
While leading these two companies, Bobigian also teaches and develops his own content for many PETEX courses at our Houston Training Center.
Bobigian instructs the economics module of our Fundamentals of Petroleum course, as well as the economic module in our Introduction to Offshore Operations course. In the module, Fundamentals of Petroleum, Bobigian teaches economics from a macroeconomic view of the upstream oil and natural gas business. In the Introduction to Offshore Operations course, Bobigian teaches creating New Supplies of Oil and Natural Gas, in an investment decision-making view.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and their sons. He enjoys activities such as golf, traveling, volunteering, reading, and writing. He also boxes competitively in the USA Boxing Masters competition held nationwide.
We asked Bobigian to share his thoughts on how taking PETEX courses is beneficial to students. He said, “All students benefit because the course construction meshes instructors that are professionals, actively working in their professions, who bring that specific expertise to PETEX students in a classroom setting. Theories are used throughout the presentations to justify best practices, but there is nothing theoretical about the material presented in the classroom.” With industry experts teaching industry best practices based on proven theory, how can you not enroll in a PETEX course today?
We are grateful to have such a distinguished, knowledgeable, a dedicated instructor for PETEX. Look at the upstream section of our website to see when you can take one of his upcoming courses.
